    • Summary: I am interested in answering geometric and topological questions about algebraic varieties using the methods of algebraic combinatorics. In general, I seek geometric patterns which have elegant and explicit combinatorial descriptions. My present research program includes studying a family of varieties in the affine flag variety, called affine Deligne-Lusztig varieties, which are governed by a combinatorially rich partially ordered set of Newton polygons.  I have also recently started several projects aimed toward developing combinatorial models for quantum Schubert calculus.
