Latin@s and Hispanics in the Mathematical Sciences

September 15-October 15 is National Hispanic Heritage Month, a time when we recognize the accomplishments and contributions of Latin@s and Hispanics in the United States while celebrating the culture and heritage. Every day during this month the website www.lathisms.org – standing for Latin@s and Hispanics in the Mathematical Sciences – will showcase a Latin@ or Hispanic mathematician who has contributed to the mathematical community both in terms of their research and mentoring activities. This project has been supported by the American Mathematical Society, who is tweeting about the featured mathematician daily. Feel free to follow the AMS (Twitter: @amermathsoc) and check out the associated article on this month’s Notices (link http://www.ams.org/publications/journals/notices/201609/rnoti-p1019.pdf) to learn more about the work of Latin@s and Hispanics in the mathematical sciences.
