Math Major Eludes Shark in Honduras by Carson Eisenach '14

The burly Russian dive master assured us that we had nothing to fear, that sharks do not attack humans. But as we started to hop over the side of the boat, I noticed that he was putting on chain mail gloves.

I was on a Spring Break trip down to Honduras to go scuba diving off the island of Roatan. It was on our second to last day that we decided the time had come to go in search of sharks. There actually was a shop on the island that advertised “Shark Dives”.  We headed out about twenty minutes from shore to a part of the reef known for its population of Caribbean Reef Sharks. I rolled over the side of the boat into the water and began the descent down to 80 feet, where the sharks live.  Check out this video to see what we found.
