Matthew Quinn and Stephanie Stacy Win First Place in National Statistics Competition

Matthew Quinn and Stephanie Stacy, Juniors at Williams College, won the First Place in this year’s USPROC (Undergraduate Statistics Project Competition) sponsored by CAUSE (Consortium for the Advancement of Undergraduate Statistics Education). USPROC is an annual national competition among undergraduate students in United States. The project submitted by Matthew and Stephanie was based on a course project for STAT 346, with Prof. Wendy Wang serving as the faculty sponsor and advisor. Their winning project, titled “Predictors for Winning in Men’s Professional Tennis”, was also invited to be presented in a plenary talk at the First Annual Electronic Undergraduate Statistics Research Conference on October 2.
