While December 7 will always justly live in infamy, this year we’ve added a good reason to remember it. Over 2% of the Williams’ campus took the 2013 Putnam exam; 44 students at Williams and 2 in Budapest. To be precise, the registrar says there are 2177 enrolled students this fall, giving us a participation rate of an epsilon over 2.11%. This may be a record percentage for an institution with at least 2000 students (definitely among liberal arts colleges without an ‘e’ in their name).
The problems are now available (just click here on PutnamProblems2013), or go to http://www.math.ucsd.edu/~kedlaya/putnam-backup/ for this and previous years.
